What to Expect

At Pink Canoe Studio, we’re all about expert care in a welcoming, judgment-free space. Before your appointment, we’ll guide you through how to prep your skin for the smoothest, most comfortable waxing experience possible. During your visit, your esthetician will walk you through every step with kindness and professionalism—using high-quality, non-toxic products tailored to your skin. After your service, we’ll share tips to keep your skin glowing and bump-free.

Whether it's your first wax or your fiftieth, we’re here to make you feel at ease and totally cared for.

Please Note

If you use any of the following please let us know. These products can make skin thin and more sensitive to waxing which can result in lifting and extra sensitivity. Every individual reacts differently to these products and sometimes waxing can be done if a proper patch test is completed.***


  • Acne medication (Accutane, Differin, Isotretinoin) - Must be off for at least 1 year

  • Retin A (or any products containing it or retinol)

  • Bleaching agents for skin (Hydraquinone)

  • Chemical depilatories (Nair)

  • Benzoyl Peroxide (Proactive)

  • High percentages of alpha hydroxy acids (Lactic, glycolic)

  • Topical or oral antibiotics

 Waxing: What to Expect

    • Let hair grow for 3–4 weeks prior. Facial hair should be at least 1/8 inch long. Body hair should be 1/4 to 1/2 inch (about the length of a grain of rice).

    • Exfoliate 1–2 days beforehand to help the wax grip and prevent lifting.

    • Avoid caffeine, alcohol, tanning, and hot tubs for 24 hours before your appointment.

    • If you’ve had a chemical peel or microdermabrasion, wait at least 7 days.

    • Consider taking ibuprofen 30 minutes before to reduce discomfort.

    • Clean skin helps prevent breakouts—please arrive freshly washed.

    • Wear loose-fitting clothes for comfort post-wax.

    • Your esthetician will guide you through the process, including any undressing needed.

    • Skin will be cleansed and prepped with oil or powder to protect the skin.

    • A gentle cream wax is used, followed by a soothing after-wax balm.

    • Redness or tenderness may last from 30 minutes to 48 hours.

    • Avoid sun exposure, workouts, intercourse, saunas, or tight clothing for 24–48 hours.

    • Begin exfoliating the area 2 days post-wax to prevent ingrowns.

    • Moisturize daily and do not shave between visits.

    • Wax consistently every 2–6 weeks for finer, softer, less painful regrowth.

Laser Hair Removal: What to Expect

    • Shave the area 12–24 hours prior. No waxing or tweezing for 4–6 weeks before.

    • Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 2 weeks.

    • Come with clean skin—no lotion, deodorant, or makeup.

    • Protective eyewear will be provided.

    • You may feel heat or a quick snapping sensation—King Triton is fast and effective!

    • Sessions are quick and vary based on the treatment area.

    • Mild redness or swelling is normal and usually subsides in a few hours.

    • No sun, heat, workouts, or friction for 24–48 hours.

    • Do not wax or pluck between treatments—shaving is okay.

    • Multiple sessions (typically 4–6) are needed for full, long-lasting results.

SkinPen Microneedling: What to Expect

    • Stop using exfoliants, acids, and retinoids 3–5 days beforehand.

    • Avoid sun exposure and let us know if you get cold sores or take blood thinners.

    • Your skin will be numbed, then treated using the SkinPen device to create micro-channels that stimulate collagen.

    • This treatment targets acne scars, fine lines, texture, and more.

    • Some pinpoint bleeding or redness is normal.

    • Skin may feel tight, warm, or sunburned for 24–72 hours.

    • Only use the post-care products we provide—nothing else on your skin for 24 hours.

    • No sun, exercise, or heat for 48 hours.

    • Follow your aftercare closely and avoid makeup for 24+ hours.

    • A treatment series is often recommended for optimal results.

 Corrective Skincare: What to Expect

    • Complete your skin consult form before your visit.

    • Avoid active products (like acids and retinoids) and sun exposure for 3–5 days.

    • Your esthetician will assess your skin and tailor your treatment using professional, results-driven techniques. Options may include chemical peels, extractions, masks, enzymes, LED, and more.

    • These treatments are focused on long-term skin health and healing from within.

    • You may experience some redness or just leave glowing—it depends on your skin and treatment.

    • Avoid actives, sun, heat, and workouts for 2–5 days.

    • Follow your personalized home care plan—we’ll guide you on what to use.

    • Stay consistent. Monthly treatments yield the best long-term results.
